User Guide: How to Recover Android Photos

Some people may accidentally delete their photos from Android. How to get those important images back? When you deleted photos from Android, they were not really gone, but only marked as useless on your phone and can be overwritten by new data. Therefore, you'd better stop using your phone after losing your pictures, to ensure a higher rate of recovery. And then take the following guide to learn how to recover Android.

Firstly, download and install Tenorshare Android Data Recovery on your computer.

Step 1: Connect Android Device

Connect your Android device via USB cable after installation.



Step 2: Enable USB Storage

If you still stay at the first interface without changing, click "Find your device" and then "Connect".

For Mac: For Android 2.3 or earlier -> Pull down Notifications -> Select "USB connected" -> Tap "Turn on USB storage".



Tap "OK" on your device when a window will pop up. And click "Have tapped OK button in your device" on the software interface.

For Mac: For Android 4.0 -> Enter "Settings" -> Click "Wireless and Network" -> Click "USB utilities" -> Click "Connect Storage to PC" -> Click "Turn on USB Storage".



Note: USB Mass Storage was removed several Android versions ago. You can skip this step if your phone does not provide this setting.

Step 3: Enable USB Debugging

Please enable USB debugging on your Android device to make it detected. The steps vary on different Android versions. If you cannot find the USB debugging option after following the steps, please check the phone manual.

  • For Android 2.3 or earlier: Enter "Settings" < Click "Applications" < Click "Development" < Check "USB debugging".

  • For Android 3.0-4.1: Enter "Settings" < Click "Developer options" < Check "USB debugging".

  • For Android 4.2 or newer: Enter "Settings" < Click "About Device" < Tap "Build number" for 7 times until getting a note "You are under developer mode" < Go back to "Settings" < Click "Developer options" < Check "USB debugging".

Tips: If you haven't installed USB driver for your Android device, this software will automatically install it for you. If it fails, follow this article to download and install Android USB driver manually.

Step 4: Grant SuperUser Authorization

After your device is detected, click "Allow" when an app Superuser Request pops up on your device's screen to allow the program super user authorization. Then click "Start" on the software screen.



Choose the “Photos” in file types window and click Next to scanning photos.

For Mac, you need to specify the recovery mode first: Quick Recovery/Deep Recovery.



After that, you need to wait for several minutes for requesting superuser authorization of your device.

Step 5: Preview Photos on Android Device

It will take several seconds to scan the files. After scanning finished, you can find all the photos including existing and lost ones are listed. You are allowed to preview them to check if they are your need before photo recovery.



Step 6: Recover and Save the Pictures

Tick the pictures you need to recover. Click "Recover" to recover and save them on your PC. The photos are saved in their original formats.
